If your complaint is in regards to email you have received (such as spam, hoaxes, viruses, harassment, threats, etc.), you must include the full received headers of the email. Without this information we cannot pursue an investigation. For more information, read our Fact Sheet on Junk Mail before sending a complaint.

If your complaint is in regards to intrusion, port probes or scans, or suspected "hacking" in to your computer, you must provide us with the full details on the access attempt(s) from your firewall software, including the dates, times, and ports involved. Without this information, we cannot pursue an investigation. For more information, read our Fact Sheet on Probes & Scans before sending a complaint.

If your complaint is in regards to any other instance of misuse of university computing resources, please email us with details at NEThics@umd.edu or phone us at 301-405-8787 to discuss the matter or to set up an appointment.
