Project NEThicssm is the focal point for university activity concerning the identification and investigation of incidents of computer misuse. The following are examples of incident response activities:

  • Interpret and enforce the university's Policy on the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources;

  • Assist university computer users if the security of their computing account has been compromised (e.g., unauthorized access) or if users become victim to illegal activities or behavior prohibited by the Acceptable Use Policy;

  • Educate university computer users when a complaint is received concerning their online behavior;

  • Contact other colleges and universities or Internet Service Providers when unethical conduct is associated with their computing network or systems; and,

  • Establish procedures that ensure prompt, fair, and systematic investigation of complaints.
